Derrick Rose Groin Injury Update

Rose on Injury Per ESPNChicago:

"(I'm feeling) way better," Rose said. "(When the injury occurred) I was actually bleeding, my groinwas bleeding, but now it's healed. It's just scar tissue and it's pretty hard trying to get that to move around, it's going to take little time."Rose said he hadn't been given a timetable as to when he would be able to return."Not yet," he said. "These things, (the medical staff) was telling me there was no time period. People have healed in a couple of days, in my case it's taking a little bit of time.
Rose Per Aggery Sam, CSN Chicago:
Derrick: "Right when I feel that I’m ready, I’m going to go out there and play, no matter who says whatever.....The call is up to me and right when I feel like I’m 100 percent or close to it, I’m going to go out there and play."

Original reports expected Rose to be back tonight against Denver, that will not be the case. The reigning MVP's recovery has taken longer than expected. Most likely due to the fact that he continued to play after being injured during the game against the Knicks. Its never a good situation when your franchise player goes down, but the Bulls are in a unique situation. Chicago does not have to rush Derrick back because they hold the best record in the league and continue to play at a high level even without their floor general largely because of the soon to be repeat coach of the year. (Hopefully they wouldn't rush him back even if they were losing.) There's a possibility that Rose's injury might even help the Bulls title chances as long as he is healthy for the post season. The rest of the team is building confidence that can pull them through times that Rose's shot might not be falling while giving him fresher legs for the post season than if he had played all 66 games of a condensed season.

We all miss watching the "Windy City Assassin" do what he does best. But Rip and Derrick continue to make progress towards recovery while plenty of time remains for them to come back and start clicking with the rest of the team before a strong post season push.

  1. that's really the case. The Bulls are a very unique team, and it going on their 50th win, so hopefully Rip and D rose make it safely back on the court and getting ready for being Finals status.

    1. There is something really special about this team, I'm not going to lie and say I never wanted any of the Miamis big 3 to play for us. But if the Bulls do win it all as composed it will be much more rewarding than if they had come here. They are like a throwback version of what basketball should be like. They play hard nosed defensive oriented, team basketball. They leave everything out there on the court every night for each other and their fans. Hopefully Rip and Drose can fully recover and show everyone what a real TEAM can do
